TOP FIVE ATTACK!!!!!
Tonight.....it's my top 5 tentative locations for my first travel assignment. I applied to all of these travel companies and like everyone is making offers I CAN'T refuse (like, I will be making way more money than someone who pushes an xray button should be making....) But, I'm weighing out my options, and like always, I took out a piece of paper and thought out my TOP 5. So, as I laughed at myself... I folded up this piece of paper, placed it in my pocket, and now I'm using it to keep you all informed as to my complicated decisions. Any opinions are very welcome...please do..... with that said....here goes:
1. Northern California- This seems to be my first choice at the moment because of the pay rate. Like all travel agencies, they have paid housing and benefits, but this is also paying over $40/hour with extra call time and optional 8 hours of overtime a week.... it's also in a children's hospital which is where I want to end up anyway... I absolutelty LOVE working with kids and the neonates.....they are amazing.....
2. Houston, Texas- Texas would be a blast...pay is the upper 30's an hour and my whole family lives in Texas, around Houston. My grandmother, two aunts and uncles and all my cousins...so it would be nice to have them close for once in my life, if even for a few months.
3. Washington, D.C.- This is probably my last choice for location on the list here, but it has one really big perk. If I go to D.C., my friend Sasha will travel with me. So, I would have a buddy who is from DC who knows the area, the metrorail system, and all the surroundings...not to mention, who also has friends in the area and would proably make the social side of it much more interesting and fun.
4. London, England- Nuf said... all I need is a passport and I'm legal to work there for as long as I want. They pay travel expenses and all that, plus provide a "flat" in the city..... Only downside, you get paid 45/hour USD but the USD to the euro right now is about 50% so that's like 20/hr, plus, my whole point of traveling right now is to sock away some cash for a house....so if I go to europe right now, I'll spend every extra cent I have on sight seeing and travel. Also, they only do one year contracts, so I would have to commit to a year straight out of the gate. We'll see... they idea is amazing...but I think I might get a little homesick after a year.
5. Louisville, KY- It's close to home, I could live in B-town, and commute to louisville. Allowing myself an extra 1000 a month in "housing allowance" I would not be using because of the free rent at home. Downside...it's home.... it's living with my parents again.....and if I'm gonna travel, I should just travel....you know, see places I've never been, not go back to what I know. There are afew reasons I would find this satisfying though. I have spent the last two years in a "foreign" place and it is very nice to just be able to pick up the phone and call one of 50 people and find out where everyone is hanging out that night. Sometimes, just having people around is a nice comforting thing. Plus, if I didn't move back to daddy's..it might not be so bad....
I got a couple more weeks before I have to sign any contracts, so let me know..if it were you, what would you do?....I'm curious....

You are so "High Fidelity" in the top ten thing. Keep in mind, although you're makin more in Cali....cost of living is a lot higher too.

I love John Cusack...he's in it, right?...yeah...blockbuster, here i come!
